How To Measure Yourself
The perfect bra can only be made using the correct measurements, so please follow our instructions carefully. We recommend taking the measurements three times before submitting to be triple sure. They can be in inches or centimetres, whichever you prefer, but please stick to one or the other.
Follow the video and text instructions below to take your measurements.
To get a completely accurate view of your size and shape, please take your cup depth and horizontal hemisphere for both your left and right breasts.
If you are unsure about any of these measurements, do get in touch.
Video consultations are available on request if you have any questions about measuring yourself, or issues with fit you would like to discuss before ordering your bra.
Once you have taken your measurements, send them to us.
Band Size
Place the tape measure around your ribcage directly under your breasts.
Make sure the tape is snug against your ribs and level all the way around your body.
Cup Depth
Place the tape measure at the crease where your breast meets your ribs underneath your breast, then bring the tape measure directly up to your nipple.
As most of us are in a constant battle with gravity, you may need to tuck the tape measure under your breast and let your breast rest over it before curving the tape up to meet your nipple.
Most women have one breast larger than the other, so we advise measuring your left and right breasts, and sending both measurements through to us.
Horizontal Hemisphere
This should measure the fullest part of your breast.
If your breast is self supporting you can measure you bare breast, from the inner curve of your breast at the breast bone, across your nipple, to where your breast tissue meets your ribcage under your arm.
If you find you are doing battle with gravity, you may want to take this measurement while wearing a bra to keep your breast tissue lifted and full. Measure from the same place, from one side of the breast tissue to the other, across the nipple.
Breast Trace
To take this measurement, you need something flexible that will hold its shape. A flexi rule is great, but a rolled-up piece of tin foil also works well. Get a sausage of tin foil and mould it around the base of your breast tissue. It should follow the shape of the breast where it meets your ribcage.
Once you have the shape, lay it on a piece of paper with a 10cm line for scale marked clearly in the top left corner so we can make sure the size is correct when it comes through to us.
Take a photo of from directly above to ensure the curve of your breast trace is not distorted.
Asymmetrical Orders
Nobody is symmetrical, so it is common to have slight differences between your left and right breasts. These can be as much as 1.5cm / 1/2 inch. However, if you have a bigger difference than this or find one bra cup is consistently baggy or tight, you may want to consider having an asymmetrical bra made. We will size each cup individually. For these orders, make sure you email a breast trace for both breasts, marking them clearly as left and right.
Asymmetric orders have an additional cost of £30, please add the asymmetric order listing to your basket on checkout of our Etsy store
Knicker size
For your knicker size simply place the tape measure around the fullest part of your hip, this is usually low enough to go across the front of your crotch and measure the fullest part of your bum.
size 6 89 cm
size 8 94 cm
size 10 99 cm
size 12 104 cm
size 14 109 cm
size 16 114 cm
size 18 119 cm
The band size, cup depth and horizontal hemisphere can be taken over an existing bra if it is well fitting. However, if you are unsure about the fit of your current bra, we advise taking it off or you risk measuring the bra instead of your body. The breast trace should be taken without a bra.
